The Racecar
I am building a monster MR2 to race in the Turbo 4 Street class of NOPI's X Box cup this season. This is primarily to promote my business of tuning cars, and to show some of the East Coast what I can do with the car I love.
I will have to run mid nines consistently to be somewhat competitive. Here's what I am up against.
Here's a quick run-down on the technical aspects of the car:
- PT67 P trim on T78 SS manifold, 50mm wastegate, 4 inch exhaust
- trunk mount IC (core is 24x12x5......MKIV Supra Greddy 3 row)
- NX direct port system
- TEC3 running sequential
- dual walbros
- 95lb hr injectors
- graduated large plenum straight runner intake manifold
- 75mm throttle body
- 1mm OS valves
- HKS 272 (advertised duration) cams, 2.0L bottom end, shot peened stock rods, JE .020 8.5:1 pistons
- 1mm steel headgasket
- ARP studs (main and head)
- driveshaft shop stage 5 axles (maybe not if the ATS Racing CV joints on the way will hold up)
- Clutchmasters twin disc
- Penske/Ohlins rear coilovers with separate compression and rebound dampening
- Hurst roll control
- Weld wheels 15x4 and 15x9
- 275-50-15 BFG drag radials/ 26x 10.5 ET streets
- Race weight should be under 2550 with driver (I know, it's a PIG)
- Full chromeoly cage, chute, scattershield, window net, suit
Later in the season I will be upgrading to these parts:
- DEstroked 5SFE bottom end, 2.13L, 87x87.5, 1.62 rod to stroke ratio, 8.8:1 CR
- CP pistons
- Pauter rods
- Tilton carbon-carbon twin plate clutch
I am still gathering some parts and doing a LOT of fabrication. I have been continually taking pictures for you guys to see. Go to the gallery of thumbnails to see parts pics.
